Rhodiola Rosea is a perennial plant and belongs to Crassulaceae. It is largely distributed in Arctic regions of Europe, Asia and North America. It grows on rocks or cliffs in cold and barren alpine district. R. rosea contains various active ingredient including flavonoids, amino acids, calcium and potassium. It has antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-microbial, anti-allergic, anti-aging, and skin whitening effect. Salidroside, the major active component of R. rosea, inhibits activity of tyrosinase which is a key factor of melanin synthesis so it helps skin whitening.
